Parameters

Design of a project like this requires defining a lot of things. First is what this shop will be used for. Who will use it. What kind of projects can be done in it? It is in a residential area, so that has to be taken into account. The first question that needs to be asked is "What facilities exist now?" Well, it's a small corner lot, 40x100 which has a brick colonial with an attached 1 car garage. The rear yard has a collection of storage sheds. The largest is an 8x12. This might temporarily serve as a beginning spot, but a bigger better structure is a must. Winter is coming, so that will be a good time to plan the project. My next task is to put together some data on the existing lot and required setbacks and other planning constraints. At the same time we can start putting together a list of capabilities we wish to have. And from that list we can start to sketch in the equipment and machinery necessary. Any ideas?

The Detroit Home Work Shop

This is all about a workshop that you, the reader, will create. I will do the grunt work of putting it together, but you will design and supply this shop. Your consensus opinions, determined after discussion among you, will be followed. There are constraints. There are space constraints, and budget constraints, and time constraints. But within those constraints, your ideas will create this shop. Your donated equipment will equip it along with what I can scrounge and buy. Your ideas on what to use it for will be followed. Your knowledge will educate me, and everyone who visits here. I will photo and video every step of the process for everyone's entertainment.
